Autumnal

Overcast and a bit breezy but nothing we couldn't handle so all the nets were opened but it was fairly quiet with 19 new birds caught; these included 4 Whitethroats, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Willow Warblers, a Blackcap and a Coal Tit - only the second to be ringed this year.   The wind picked up through the morning with the occasional shower keeping me on my toes to give a real autumnal feel to the afternoon.

Coal Tit and Chaffinch (sortmejse og bogfinke)

A Serin flew over the garden, 4 Hawfinches dropped in briefly and a Spotted Flycatcher was also in the garden but none of them found any nets!   There was a trickle of birds moving south down the coast mid/late afternoon with 60 Swallows, 20 Sand Martins, 23 Linnets and a few White and flava Wagtails counted in an hour; a Greenshank also flew south offshore and a female Merlin was mooching around the fields near the tip.
