Another chiffchaff control from Sweden

The weather today has changed considerably as north winds have calmed down to a breeze.  All nets were opened with the expectancy to ring the Ring Ouzel observed yesterday afternoon around the neighbouring fields.  Unfortunately, this bird hasn’t let itself be trapped or seen. Crossing fingers for tomorrow!!!! As it would be the first time ringing it for all of us!!!!!. We have had four busy rounds during early morning, highlights: 1 male Blackcap, 2 Yellowhammers (female and male) and 1 Chiffchaff control from Sweden!!!  In addition, we have also retrapped the Swedish Robin control that has been around since the 3rd of April.

Hans and Benny (and Molly!!!) was here to show some ringing for a visiting group. They had a nice day were they saw a lot of ringing and some nice birds including one of the Firecrests that has been around for some days now.

As it has been such nice day (sunny and hot), no migration was going on apart from the second Barn Swallow observed down here during this spring, 7 Curlews and 1 Red Kite.  The Golden Plover flock is still around, increasing the number with the days. This afternoon we could see three different flocks flying together like Starling does with an estimation of 400 individual as a minimum.

Looking at the weather forecast, it seems that tomorrow the wind will change to southeast, which means new birds coming in. Hopefully tomorrow there will be new species around, and maybe a rare one!!!!

No bird pictures for today, but a little video of the Hedgehog nest. Looks busy in there.
