After a brilliant morning around the garden we felt it was only right to top it off with some vis-mig at the tip. After re-fueling over dinner we made a beeline for the tip as we didn't want to miss out given the number of birds moving over head and off the tip!
It was immediatly clear that this was a good move with birds moving over head at a variety of heights and in a variety of directions.
The undisputed highlight for the GFU team came when sharp eyed GARY GRAVES picked up the aforementioned Nutcracker that quite literally dropped out of the sky. What made it even more unforgettable was the fact we had missed one earlier in the season as well as the fact it soon transpired that we had missed what was most likely the same bird earlier in the day as it was briefly spotted by Gert.
Fortunately for us the bird clearly had second thoughts about leaving Gedser Tip for Germany and took a rest on top of an exposed dead tree with a handful of Mistle Thrushes just north of the Fuglestation.
A phone call was promptly made to ask for the nets to be erected and for the tape lure to be switched on. After a prolonged preen the bird took flight and took a direct route straight towards the Fuglestation garden and the rest was history!

And here is the 2nd Nutcracker ever to be ringed at Gedser Fuglestation!
