Penultimate ringing session

This morning was the penultimate ringing standardised ringing session for the year. Our autumn season here at Gedser runs from July 20th right through until 15th November and has done for many previous years.

Ringing today was quiet with only 11 new birds from the entire day. Blackbird 3, Waxwing 2, Robin 3, one of each Wren, Redwing and Goldcrest.

Notable sightings included  240 Migrating Waxwing, 3 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel and 48 Siskin. A brief Seawatch 14:45 - 16:00 produced 30 Common Scoter, 4 Scaup, 2 Goldeneye, 7 Long-tailed Duck, 4 Great Crested Grebe and a sub adult Lesser-Black Backed Gull. 5 Snow Buntings rested by the new building at the point. 3 Harbour Porpoise (Marsvin) and a Grey Seal (Gråsæl) in the surf.
